bollocks.

i would just buy another nomad as it has served me awfully well, but dd2 is a total plaster and i'm sure would prefer a front-facing.

so, cheap front-facings that aren't naff? can anyone help? or is it possible to buy these things second-hand and not get totally ripped off?

thanks, crazy pram ladies.

brio go is new, so not seen any reviews on it yet.

most rearfacers are big/heavy.

you could go more traditional and look at the silvercross freeway or mamas and papas buggies. i loved the skate, but was too big for my door/hall and was bashing it daily getting it in and out of the house.

AitchTwoOh · 30/07/2009 22:21

what's your favourite buggy, then, nutbag?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 30/07/2009 22:23

i saw one out a couple of months ago and thought it looked really nice, i must say. i don't care much about buggies but it really caught my eye. looooovely big tray at the bottom.

misdee · 30/07/2009 22:26

ooooooooo my maclaren.

or if i could have two, a mountain buggy.

but can i keep my slings??

AitchTwoOh · 30/07/2009 22:34

you may. i need a buggy though, dd1's too young to get anywhere quickly without hitching a list.

any experience of rear-facing?

OP posts:
misdee · 30/07/2009 22:40

loads.

and i know you hate it, but the bugaboo cameleon is one of the best there is about. the seat is an ok size, and it can take a board as well.

i like my big emmaljunga. i only paid £35 for it so love it even more. its a big bouncey pram though, which is for when we go shopping as going car free soon.

the skate is luuuush.

britax strider is meant to be good as well, check ebay for that one.

the bee can take a mutsy step up board, but personally i wouldnt use one on the bee.

buzz is awkward to fit a board to.

bugaboo gecko/frog also good but small seats than a cam

AitchTwoOh · 30/07/2009 22:49

what's a skate?

OP posts:
misdee · 30/07/2009 22:50

skate

AitchTwoOh · 30/07/2009 22:54

oooh, it's on sale. it's deffo reversible?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 30/07/2009 22:56

it looks vaaaairy nice, imo. do you think it'll take a buggy board?

OP posts:
misdee · 30/07/2009 22:57

yup.

its big though and heavey. go check one out if m+p is nearby

misdee · 30/07/2009 22:58

yes, some people ahve fitted baords to them. i tried with a kiddioard but it wanst perfect. it laos has a very handy step section already on it, which can be used as a quick board.

AitchTwoOh · 30/07/2009 23:08

hmmmm. i'm trying to find out what my nomad weighs, it keeps coming up as six and a half kilos... surely that can't be right? even if that's just the chassis, i'm really gonna notice a difference. bum.

OP posts:
horsemadgal · 31/07/2009 14:29

Not much lighter than a Nomad Aitch.

Get yourself to Mothercare or Babykins and try them out with little one in them.

AitchTwoOh · 31/07/2009 18:07

i've been out buggy shopping today, and can happily confirm that imo the build quality and lightness of the nomad is INFINITELY better than any of the ones i saw. i thought i was going to DIE trying to lift an icandy.

anyhoo...

i've tried dd1 (aged three and a half) in the bee and yes i agree its a neat fit but it seemed to me not dissimilar to seeing her in a maclaren. apparently they've replaced the side bits of the seat unit to make it roomier (still not palatial but ykwim). her head was hitting off the closed hood but we've not had a hood on the maclaren that i use for camping and hols for yonks so i'll let dd2 get wet if necessary. (although it won't be, it's just hitting off, not breaking her neck.)

so, should i get one? and first or second-hand, do you think?

AitchTwoOh · 31/07/2009 22:09

WOT? don't you care any more?

OP posts:
onelittlelion · 01/08/2009 07:52

If get a Bee I would get new or 2nd hand with receipt if someone will do as they always seem to break! Saying that, if/when I have another baby I'd like to try one! I only really liked bugs rearfacing everything else was heavy. MB was great for us as hood goes kind of flat back so could stil talk to ds but did get ours after ds was bored of looking at me! Was suprised it took so long.... x

AitchTwoOh · 01/08/2009 11:06

i got a new one. most odd. they're on at £419 in the mothercare shop, likewise the mothercare site and the john lewis website.

but they're only (i say only...ffs) £359 in the john lewis branch.

what is THAT about? if you look online their price has swithered about all over the place.

You got a NEW Bugaboo bee!
Wow how exciting.

AitchTwoOh · 01/08/2009 11:23

misdee said i should treat myself, miss.

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 01/08/2009 13:27

what colour?

AitchTwoOh · 01/08/2009 13:31

ach, i feel a bit of a colour coward but i went for the khaki. i wear a lot of colour myself and just thought it was enough. would've gone for a green had there been one. dh thought the blue looked cheapy, i like the yellow but apparently they attract flies, black too depressing, red too common... soooooo...

i could change it if anyone has strong feelings, it was a snap decision.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 01/08/2009 13:33

It's a slippery slope. Today a new Farkaboo tomorrow...? You'll be a pram hun within a fortnight.

AitchTwoOh · 01/08/2009 13:34

i know. i can feel their icy fingers 'pon me.
(well, they would be icy but thanks to the heated farkaboo handle they are toasty warm.)

OP posts:
Aranea · 01/08/2009 13:41

Good decision. I love my bee. Mine's yellow which I am very pleased with. I think the fly thing is just that you notice them there on the bright yellow really. And I don't have the courage to wear bright colours myself so am happy to have a splash to push around.
