Budget?

Ford Focus. I'm on my second (had a crappo Renault in between) and they are fantastic. Good to drive, well equipped, reliable, relatively cheap to run/repair and insure.

Sorry the car thing got put on the back burner - but I have been enviously eyeing another mum's ford focus so maybe that will be the way forward when we get there.
thanks for all your responses

I covet my friends Focus C Max. I am ungratefully stuck with a company car which I hate. I am not really that ungrateful, but I resent paying (we contribute 2/7 of the lease cost + tax) for a car I really don't like (Audi A4 saloon, boot too shallow for DS's P&T, also too wide, too powerful, too masculine, too thirsty.

I second nicm's comment on Renaults!
