What's the cheapest place to buy spectacles?

I'm a contact lens wearer so hardly ever wear my specs but DD has just broken my only pair so I need to replace them. Where should I look?

I got 2 pairs for £99 at vision express. They also have economy ones too cheaper than that for one pair.

on the internetm will look for address, bought my bed glasses from this site for £25 (could have got a pair for £15) and they are great. Prescription right etc. Now going to look for site for you...

dh told me of an online shop that some mate of Prince Harry's (I think) has set up, go to an optician, choose a pair and look on the website and they send to you at a fraction of the price

Are these online shops as good as the high street for service/fitting? When DD gets hers they always measure her eyes/nose bridge etc. Is that not necessary?

I have only used them for my bed glasses, I don't think I would trust for ds1. But if were buying to wear out, i would measure, as they do give the measurements, you could try against other glasses i suppose

Maybe it's like shoes - ok when you've stopped growing - had a stable prescription etc.

I see you can also order 'trial' pairs at a fee of £4 per pair and try them on at home

I think Specsavers have an online service too

Just checked - Specsavers do offer glasses online, but they start at £30 (twice the price of Glasses Direct) and their cheapest styles aren't as good as GD's I'd say
