HELP, before my house blows up ... something to make gas knobs untouchable.

3 fecking times in the last 4 days have i smelt gas/ heard hissing to find the kids have turned the gas on, accidentally apparantly

Please dont say 'dont let them in the kitchen' as our house layout means they HAVE to go past to get to the garden then back into the house and I cant stand in the kitchen every second of the day

Can you pull the knobs off? We could do this with our (old) cooker.

Otherwise, could you investigate hob guards.

If the kids are old enough, maybe you could apply SERIOUS sanctions...

they are 3 & 4.

i think they are climbing up and doing it by accident.

I think bump2three do something

Can you fix a removable barrier across the part of the room the cooker is in?

LIZS · 29/06/2009 18:22

You can get cooker guards but tbh you need to stop them climbing in the kitchen at all. At that age they are old enough to comprehend what is dangerous otherwise how long before they use the ignition too ?

FagAshLil · 29/06/2009 18:22

Just checked, they do but I'm on my phone so can't link!

Disenchanted3 · 29/06/2009 18:24

What about if they climb/ put the gas on they are not allowed back outside and have to stay in the living room and play? In this weather I'm sure it wouldn't be long before they decided it wasn't worth climbing if they can't go outside to play.

What are they climbing up to get? Could you put it lower down?

LoveMyGirls · 29/06/2009 18:27

Meant to say they stay inside for a timed amount like 10mins or something.
