Buggy parasols

We've just bought a cheap stroller for DS (8 months), which is fine, but there's no hood or anything. We're going away next week so we'll be out with him a lot, and with a heat wave predicted I'm a bit concerned about keeping the sun off him. However I've heard a lot of people complain about parasols and say they're a waste of money.

So what would people recommend, please?!

the only problem with parasols is that every time you turn a corner or move the sun moves and you have to reposition the parasol to cast the shadow over your DS. I have had and would really recommend a shade a babe they aren't cheap but well worth it and if you've got time you might be able to find one cheaper on ebay.

Mothercare do a hood, raincover and liner for £19.99 and can be used on a few buggies. Might be worth going in to have a try?
