if so, are they worth it? do they fill you with joy everytime you use it or do you wish you had spend your money on some aluminium and decent gears.

i thank you and await your responses.

This site is so weird. I'd never thought about buying a pashey until yesterday (went to look at some in local bike shop). Mumsnet imitates life, and not for the first time

chevre · 25/06/2009 07:23

which ones did you look at cissy?

Once you get one you can accessorize to your hearts desire - who needs handbags when you can get stuff like the bike bags on here www.basil.nl/gb/assortment/ for your bike.

DarrellRivers · 26/06/2009 18:26

stop showing me all these gorgeous bikes and kit

Cyclingnut · 26/06/2009 18:45

Have you seen Capital Cycles? www.capitalcycles.co.uk This is a small business that is aimed at people who want a beautiful bicycle can cannot afford something like a Pashley.
They are reliable, affordable and EVEN if you order all the wicker and leather extras that are also on offer, they are less than £280 - delivered.

chevre · 26/06/2009 19:33

i phoned up about this one

me-'hello i would like to come in and see the dutch bike you have in the window'
bikehead-'what one, the really expensive one?'
me-
bikehead-'what make is it?'
me-velobis
bikehead-'no you can't we have sold it'
me-but it is in your window
bikehead-bored rude sighing noise 'we could order another one'
me - thankyou bye

I had no idea that it was possible to be poncetastic over a pushbike but I like it. Does my bike count as poncey?

DarrellRivers · 27/06/2009 18:22

Anyone told them there is a recession on!
Phone and ask to speak to the owner of the shop, he would be interested to hear of your experience I bet
Ckelpie, it is smart, but not really poncetastic I feel

chevre · 27/06/2009 19:18

feckers! i actually went up to the shop yesterday but it was closed for training. looks like they should have taken the whole week
