What shoe size is your 6 year old?

Someone else started a topic about 1st shoes and I was wondering what size your child is. I think I think DD still has small feet, they hardly grow. I buy her new shoes as she has worn the old ones out not grown out of them. Maybe I think she has little feet as her brother is the same size shoe and has just turned 3.
She was 6 in January and is a size 9 (just).
Is that average or not?

My dd is 5 and has just been measured as a size 10 so, yes your dd would seem to have small feet by that reckoning. On the other hand, my ds (aged 7) only has size 12 feet so dd seems to be catching up with him.

How tall is your dd? I mean, in comparison with other children her age? My dd is about average but ds is small.

Gwenick · 13/05/2005 09:50

DS1 (4.5yrs) has size 10 1/2 feet
DS2 (17 1.2 months) was a size 6 last time I had him measured about 3 months back.

But then I've got tall boys - DS2 was measured at 86cm yesterday (terrifyingly 10cm taller than his brother was at the same age!!!)

kid · 13/05/2005 09:51

She is the smallest in her class. She comes up to eveyone elses shoulders!
She was born full term and weighed 7lb 1oz.
I do feed her, honestly!

Her clothes last her ages too, she has just grown out of her nursery uniform (she is year 1 now!)

That might explain it then kid. How tall are you?

Hermione1 · 13/05/2005 10:08

my daughter is 6 and she has size 11 feet

assumedname · 13/05/2005 10:28

My daughter turned 6 on Monday and is a size 12.

crunchie · 13/05/2005 10:35

Kid, yep she small DD1 is similar, her feet just grow v slowly. She had her first pair of school shoes for a year Now she is 6 (in march) and I have just bought her some size 10 sandals - she is still wearing size 9 shoes though!

School uniform is the same she is so skinny that age 4 trs fit on the waist, but are too short. Age 5 fit in the leg, but fall down !! Dresses are fine but anything else is a nightmare.

Mo2 · 13/05/2005 10:41

DS1 who is 5 yrs 5 months has size 12 feet!!
DS2 - 2 yrs 9 months has size 8 !

Big foot family........

soapbox · 13/05/2005 10:42

My DD is 6 nearly 7 and takes an adult size 3.5!!!!!

My DS who is newly 5 takes a size 13!

Having said that they are both very tall but it doesd make buying appropriate shoes very difficult.

passtheprozac · 13/05/2005 10:42

my 6 year old dd is size 1 ,is that big for six?

TinyGang · 13/05/2005 10:53

Same here Passtheprozac (I love your name btw!)

My dd is 6.5 and must be a size 1 now (being measured tomorrow). She is tall though. It's not so bad for Summer shoes as they tend to be prettier; but winter shoes are dull, dull, dull for her and she's still young enough to want pretty sparkly bits and bobs on them. She gets quite sad when I have to steer her over to the boring black collection which Clarks rather umimagainatively offer.

passtheprozac · 13/05/2005 10:56

i know what you mean, the only shoes you can get over size 1 are either ugly clompy things or ones with 4 " heels. dont know about you but i do not want my 6year old tottering about lilo lil.

TinyGang · 13/05/2005 11:01

Agree! I really wish the 'little girl' (and boy!) styles could be in larger sizes too.

passtheprozac · 13/05/2005 11:03

when i was a little girl we all wore shiny red patent leather shoes.when was the last time you saw some of those?

Stilltrue · 13/05/2005 11:10

My 6.5yo dd is in size 12. She is average height.

BethAndHerBrood · 13/05/2005 12:25

My 6 year old DS and 5 year old DD both take a size 3 shoe!!! What a nightmare finding shoes!!!

BethAndHerBrood · 13/05/2005 12:26

That's the adult size 3, by the way, not the tiny one!!!!!

Miaou · 13/05/2005 12:34

my dd2 (aged 6) has size 11 feet. She is average size, which I think is quite an accomplishment, since I am only 5'2" and have size 4 feet, and dh is only 5'7" and has size 7 feet!!!

sahara · 13/05/2005 13:05

Ds1 wears a size 2, he is 6. I have been told that he has big feet by other mums when they find out but big feet run in my family and my 16 year old brother wears a size 11, as in 11 for grown ups.

Big foot and the hendersons is what we used to call our family

floppsy · 13/05/2005 13:06

My dd1 is 6 & just gone into size 1(she is big for her age)
dd2 is 2.5 & a size 7(she is small for her age).

Miaou · 13/05/2005 15:04

I know a little boy (well, not so little really) who is 7 and wears size 4 adult shoes - in fact I haven't seen him for a while so it could be bigger now! Bit like soapbox's kids though - he is big all over so all in proportion.

Pollyanna · 13/05/2005 15:12

my ds has size 12 feet. He is very tall for his age. (6 in jan)

kid · 13/05/2005 19:37

Quite a range of shoe sizes then!

Lots of the parents in DD's class comment on how tiny her feet are. But her feet are obviously just little like the rest of her! Not complaining, really easy to buy her nice, sensible flat shoes!

Doddle · 13/05/2005 19:39

DS1 (6) is a size 13

DS2 (4 ) is an 11 1/2

Doddle · 13/05/2005 19:40

My teenage nephew is a size 15.
