I was just wondering what your babies first walking shoe size was? Everyone says my ds has really massive feet but i just can't see it he is only a 4 1/2 (21) F fitting is this really huge?
What was the first pair of proper shoes you got your babies?

Mine's tiny, he just got measured for the first time even though he's been walking for ages and he's a 3 F....he's got teeeny feet

kid · 13/05/2005 09:25

DS was the same IIRC. I bought them from Clarkes and they took a photo of him in them, so sweet!

DD had tiny feet. When she started walking she was a size 0.
Now she is 6 years old and is a size 9 (the same size as DS who is 3 years old)

fastasleep · 13/05/2005 09:26

They're clarks first shoes, and he only just fits the smallest size by the way

HandbagAddiction · 13/05/2005 09:27

Well dd has really tiny feet. She's 20 months and only a 3.5 G. In fact, we don;t have proper walknig shoes for her - only cruisers as she's not properly walking yet and the cruisers are just so that she doesn't get cold / wet when they go outside at nursery.

There is a girl at dd's nursery who at 18 months has size 6 feet.....but then she is quite tall and her Mum is nearly 6 foot.....

How old is you ds?

loulabelle222 · 13/05/2005 09:30

my ds is 13 months, my mil took him out with her the other day and bout him shoes that were a 5 from buckle my shoe. they looked massive, i tried them on him and they were hanging off of his feet. MIL said they had tried them on him and they fit. Ok, they looked like he had clown shoes on!

My dd was exactly 12 months when we got her first shoes and she was a 4F.

She's now 19 months and a 4 1/2 G so her feet are getting wider.
I had huge feet when I was young had to have H fitting shoes and it looks like dd might be heading the same way.

Childrens shoes size vary so much.

beep · 13/05/2005 09:35

ds1 had huge feet 5 1/2 off the width scale at clarks when he started walking at 1 year tha was bigger yhan dd1's feet at 4 1/2 as she had tiny feet til she started walking (she has cp and only started walking at 3 3/4)

Hulababy · 13/05/2005 09:43

DD got her first shows (more cruisers, but she was walking) at 11 months and they were a size 2.5F - they were so tiny but cute. She is now 3 and a size 8.

LIZS · 13/05/2005 09:46

ds was a 3.5E but dd was an European 18 (around 2-2.5)

pinotgrigio · 13/05/2005 10:00

My DD's first shoes were 4.5 too. They didn't do cruisers in the next size up so she had to go onto proper shoes, because her feet were so big!

Shes a size 8 now and she's only 2. Poor little thing - its all my fault because I have massive feet (I'm a size 9). I was hoping her dad's tiny pixie feet would dilute mine, but they didn't.

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2005 10:08

fastasleep - I had real problems getting any shoes for ds1 as he walked at 10 months and was also small for his age. I think he was a 3 as well and there weren't many proper shoes for walking you could get in that size - nightmare!

misdee · 13/05/2005 10:10

dd1 first shoe sat the age od 16months were 2.5 E, dd2 first shoes at the age of 10months were 4.5G!!!

loulabelle222 · 13/05/2005 10:36

just wanted your opinion, was going to buy ds (13m) some summer sandels by naturino, at a local boutique they are £12 dearer than online shall I buy them? they are from www.mischiefkids.co.uk which do some lovely bits. they are expensive but baby shoes always are!

My dd is 21 months & is a 6H. It's a nightmare to buy shoes for her as very few shoes are made in her size & the ones that are are horrible.

loulabelle222 · 13/05/2005 15:33

girls shoes always look so pretty boys are chunky brown or black! bring out the blues and the whites!

my ds was huge (10lbs 7oz at birth) he started walking at 13 months, got his first shoes about 6 weeks later and they were 6 1/2 H! He's now a 7 1/2 H and is not yet 20 months old.

My dd was more average I think her first shoes were 4 1/2 G

Jbck · 13/05/2005 17:24

DD was walking at 10.5 months in the July but it was end of November before we could get her shoes which were a 2.5E & they lasted her till the March!!!
I took her in faithfully every fortnight to check they were still ok, she had 2 pairs by the February so she could alternate & it was almost into April before she went into a 3E. She's just between 6.5 & a 7 just now & she'll be 4 this September.
She's inherited her Mummy's penchant for shoes though & has several pairs at once. Good job she's not growing out of them every few weeks.

JulieF · 14/05/2005 22:41

Ds is 15 months and I have just managed to get him his first pair of shoes which are a 2F!!! I couldn't get him any before as size 2 is the smallest Clarks do and he has had to have crawlers even though he is walking.

jane313 · 14/05/2005 22:45

My son was a 4G at 11 months

gingernut · 14/05/2005 22:45

ds1: 4G at 13 months (proper walking shoes).

starlover · 14/05/2005 22:46

kids feet vary sooooooooo much taht i don;t think there is particularly a "big" or "small",,,
I once fitted twins with their first shoes... one was a size 3 1/2 and one was a size 5!

stitch · 14/05/2005 22:56

my ds was 4.5 but dd had crawling shoes in 2 and walking shoes 2.5
at two years of age, she is still in first shoe sizes, which is really annoying. 6g

stitch · 14/05/2005 22:57

my neighbour was concerned about finding plimsolls for her ds. at 3.5 he was still in size 5

lilsmum · 15/05/2005 00:00

dd is 15 mth and had her feet measured today she is a 5g, first shoes were clarks cruiser and was size 4f
