Thomas wooden railway track - compatible cheaper systems?

I know this has been done gazillions of times before, but things change and I really need an up to date answer. Are any cheaper wooden railway systems eg the Tesco one or any others, compatible with this system? I object to spending over £1 per piece to expand DS's figure of eight. Thanks.

yup, the tesco stuff fits with it. in fact, pretty much all the other wooden stuff fits with it.

if you have a tk maxx near you they often have bits of the real thomas stuff in though,
i got the jeremy and the airport set for £50 (sells for £120 in ELC atm!)

Good to know about the Tesco stuff - I hear the bridge is a bit low for the Thomas engines to fit under though, which is a shame. I never thought of trying TK Maxx. Good tip, thanks.
