... a bit 'squeezed in' and uncomfortable with the insert: i can't find the answer to this question anywhere, but, he's 8.8kg and hold his head up by himself, so can i remove the insert while the car seat is rear facing or should that always be used until the car seat is turned round?

any help gratefully appreciated as can't find info on britax

By insert do you mean the pad?

If so, yes remove it. Your DS is much better rear facing for quite a bit yet.

According to this you need only use the insert until 5.5kg.

DD was fine until 2yr rear facing in the same seat...the insert isn't needed past 5.5kg.

you are not a dimwit

you can[t know everything when you have a baby. pushing them out doesn't programme your brain with all the info you will need for the next 18 years. unfortunately.
