Does the Bugaboo Bee sunshade actually keep the sun out?

My shade-a-babe is the wrong shape for the Bee so have given up on that. I don't really want the Bee sunshade as it looks a bit...well...insecty but dd has almost translucent skin so if it keeps the sun off her I'll buy it.
