Need a new sling for 1yo dd

I am looking for a new sling and the brilliant shop where I got my existing ones has just shut down.

Dd is one and I would like her to face forward (and possibly to me too). has to be quite easy to put on - I had a Wilkinet experience in the street which has scarred me forever!

I am prepared to pay for a good one....

I would say either a Mei Tai or a Soft Structured Carrier, like an ergo or patapum is your best bet, but I dont think you will get a forward facing carrier at this age. the closest would be to carry her on your hip in one of these 2 carrier types.

Have a look at bigmamaslings (I think, my bookmarks are playing up so I can't remember any of my sites!)

I would say a Mei Tai like babyhawk:

Mei Tai a fairly easy to put on after a bit of practice but there are some that have buckles.
Babyhawks and Toddlerhawks have a good reputation for being comfortable and secure.

I'd thoroughly recommend the Ergo Baby Carrier also the advice & service from Baby Bean in general, she's got some good articles about choosing carriers etc. Like Loppy says you can't really do facing outwards, but both my two have loved being up on my back in the Ergo, and it's supremely comfortable.

I'd recommend a patapum too - they are very similar to the ergo but much cheaper (the US exchange rate has made ergos v expensive - they are going for more on ebay than a patapum is new!)

Can you get to a SlingMeet? There are SO many different types of slings out there, and what will be comfortable for you and your DC can be very hard to predict.

I'd also agree that you'll struggle to find a sling that will allow you to carry your DD facing out now - as the child grows it starts to get very hard on your back (their centre of gravity is leaning away from you) and less comfortable for them (most of their weight will be on their crotch, rather than spread across bottom and thighs if their legs are wrapped around you).

Fingers crossed you find something you like
