Bowron fleece sheep liner thing- is it? suitable for summer? help!

hey fellow mnetters-am a bit confused- here's the lowdown

i was given this liner from playgroup mum who never used it but has had it for about 3yrs-it's in perferct condition etc, but there's no label on it indicating material it doesn't say bowron anywhere on it (no packaging came with it) but it looks like a bowron one cos its got the blue backing and is shaped like a head/body/-no arms/two legs where the head bit is attached to body with velcro thingie ykwim! she thought it was sheep/lamb skin but wasn't sure, and i suspect it is, but there's no way to find out- or is there? im so confused..i.e., i know with leather you can put a lighter to it and it wont burn whereas 'faux' leather look will etc.. how can i confirm whether this is natural fleece or not? any suggestions will be greatly received

secondly- if it is sheeep/lamb skin, is it suitable to use in this hot weather? i read it helps to regulate body temp, but im abit sceptical cos it looks as if baby would be friggin hot if sat on that to nap in a buggy on a sunny afternoon where outside temp is about 24degrees (like today0)?

does anybody have experience of using this with their lo in hot weather? - it goes without saying that on a colder day, the liner would be lovely to keep snug in ..

also, just a thought, if ace in hot weather- would anybody fancy taking it to sweltering spain for a summer holiday?- see where i'm coming from? im quite bewildered by it all.. doesn't stop me wanna using it tho!-which i haven't done as yet...

help!

Ours came from my Aunt in Newzealand, they even use them on their beds all year round! (under a sheet like a mattress topper) So they are just as useful in hot weather!

We got so mush use from ours with DS1 and we have got it back out aagin for no2 (due any day now hopefully)

If it is a bowron or other good make they can be machine washed, but they are not as nice afterwards and make sure you buy proper sheepskin shampoo, I used wool wash first and it went abit hard. I bought the shampoo from Greenbaby - if you look at their website you should be able to get the instructions for usage and care.

I have them (3 in fact) & I have always used them with my DD's, particulary on our hot summer hols. They are supposed to absorb the sweat & my girls have always looked very comfortable in them. Think of them sitting directly on a sweaty pushchair cover otherwise (& ruining it)

You can buy special lanolin shampoo, I think I bought mine from the GreenBaby catalogue
