Has anyone had the airbag deactivated on their Vauxhall Zafira?

I have an 05 Club. It would greatly improve my life if we could do this!

Not on a Zafira, but I did it for my Vauxhall Tigra (as it only had 2 seats, and after having my baby I thought I'd pretend that life hadn't really changed and I'd still be able to keep my convertible - despite there now being 3 of us )

I went to the local Vauxhall place, and while I was getting the car serviced I batted my eyelids and flirted outrageously with the mechanic, who agreed to do it when he had an 'unofficial' free slot. It only took 10 minutes. (He didn't charge me but I gave him £20 anyway).

All that happens afterwards is that the airbag light on the dashboard is permanantly illuminated.

Good luck!

if you do it like that its not legal,
you have to get it done officially and get either a switch so it can be turned on/off or a certificate to say its been properly de-activated,
i was buying a new car and phoned the police station as the seller offered to turn it off like that for me,
if your airbag light is on all the time how would you know if there was a fault??

my CM did on her club at the garage.

The garage said not possible

Thanks folks. I'll call the garage today and find out. I know some of the newer models have a switch but ours doesn't.

Argh, they say they won't do it as it can damage the rest of the airbag system.
