stairgate for victorian staircase?

Anyone have a suggestion for a stairgate which we can attach to spindles on our victorian staircase? It's quite wide too. The trad stairgate doesn't fit as it needs a door frame or similar.

have you tried the one that looks like a rollerblind that you pull across?

our plasterer (!) told me he found a website that deals in awkward /specialist safety baby requirments eg things like stairgates... poss try googling random descriptions such as 'unusual saftey gates'?

sorry not much help!

We had this problem in our last house, a Victorian terrace, so DP made one to fit.

Do you know any carpenters/handymen?

Hi, we had exactly the same problem and got a roller blind one which works just fine. Will try find out the name of it...

We have one likethis.

Dh has attached an extra piece of wood to the spindles at the top of the stairs with cable ties that the fittings go on so as not to damage the spindles.
