Lap Belt Car Seat

Need a car seat to fit the lap belt for our golf. So far as I can see only Britax and Maxi Cosi seem to have seats designed for this. Wondered which ones you would rate best.

As we seem to be collecting car seats now would prefer not to spend too much so thinking about Britax Freeway.

Will be used firstly for DD aged 3 (quite small for her age) for at least the next 13-15 months until new baby can transfer from baby seat, so want one which is quite "roomy", but at same time it will be quite tight with 3 seats in the back so don't want something too bulky.

Alos do any of the cheaper seats fit well with a lap belt? Thanks

Katherine, I have an American car seat made by Cosco called the Alpha Omega. It fits just fine in our Golf (H reg) in the middle lap belt seat, or the others too. In fact I haven't yet found a car that it doesn't fit in. It's a great seat. It goes from birth to 80 lbs. You face it backwards until the child is 22 lbs or 1 year and then forwards after that. Then as the child grows you take bits out until it is just a booster seat. It has a base that allows you to adjust the tilt of the seat (handy for when they are young and fall asleep regularly in the car). When my son got a little older (2 yrs), I disconnected the base to make the seat a little less bulky. I'm not sure if the seat is available here in the uk (i bought mine in the usa), but you could certainly look it up online. It costs about $130 (75 quid).
