best balance bike for VERY tall 3yo?

My DS is turning 3, and we want to get him a balance bike. He's the height of a 4/5 year old.

Looked at the EasyRider, but it's just far too small.

Any suggestions for a balance bike that might be right for his size?

Islabikes are very good - they have a shop in the midlands where you can go and try them out. They are very knowledgable and can give good advice by phone too.

Thanks very much loler - I'll give them a ring.

The Puky ones come in 3 sizes I think... We have the middle sized one - DS (3 years) is above average height but not very tall, and its good for him, with room to grow. If you got the bigger Puky, I'm sure it would be big enough (and we are very impressed with the quality of it).

Thanks Astrophe - went to our local bike shop and they recommend the Puky XL, so we're going to go with that.

I'm sure your DS will love it - they are wonderful bikes. My (fairly tall) almost 5 year old still rides ours (medium sized!)...its too small for her, but she still loves it (although she's getting a pedal bike for her b'day in a few weeks). I'm sure your DS will get years of use from his.

(Do buy the shoulder strap/carrier that goes with it. We didn't and we should have )

I hd posted a similar thread about the puky xl asking if anyone knew of a bigger one? I think this must be about the biggest. Im looking for my ds who is almost 4 and 108cms tall. How tall is your ds? Just out of interest where are you getting it. Just wondered if you were in london area. Is it your first balance bike?

think likeabike do a large?

We got our Puky from here - it was a couple of years asgo now, but it was the best price at the time when delivery was factored in.

I know it's too late for you - but DS is 3 in a fortnight and exceptionally tall (he's the height of the average 5 year old according to the red book!) - we got him a balance bike last birthday and we got him the Little Tikes one from Tesco - was only £30 and we've only just put it up one notch on the seat - he's still got one notch to go. I guess it depends on their leg length - a lot of boy's height is in their torso normally, but DS actually has quite long legs. Took him to buy his first proper bike which we're giving him for his 3rd bday last week and he's got to have a 14" and not on the lowest setting at all!

tab - my DS is around 104cm, with inside leg measurement (I gather from our bike shop that this is the important bit) of 44cm.

We're getting the Puky XL from here where they're really nice and helpful.

Astrophe - good tip on the carry strap - thanks!

Just get a normal bike and take off pedals and stabilisers.
