Double Buggy Advice Please!!!

Claire2009 · 12/05/2009 14:04

Currently I have a single & buggy board, but dd (3yo) is refusing the buggy board and wants to be in the buggy, ds (2yo) isn't reliable on the buggy board nor walking even with reins.

So, I'm going to get yet another double buggy. I've had 5 already but sold them on each time we've gone to another

I'm going for a side by side this time & don't want to spend a lot, 100-130 max really, second hand is fine also.

Any ideas what side by side is the best?

I keep looking at the Mamas & papas Aria..

Claire2009 · 12/05/2009 14:10

My 3yo dd is small & such a slow walker...

2yo ds is a little bigger than 3yo dd & not such a good walker..

I have a Mothercare Duolite if you are interested. It's been used but is in good clean condition. Whereabouts are you ?

We had a single Aria which was great, the Duolite is similar but not quite as lightweight (still not bad though).

jrsqueak · 12/05/2009 14:22

cant believe you had a phil and teds and got rid. i have had graco then childwheels but am now getting rid of it now i think

Claire2009 · 12/05/2009 14:28

I know, but dd was refusing to go in it and was much happier sat on the hood - but it was slowly pulling them side hem bits so I sold it. At the time I felt it was too big a buggy to keep as a single ?!

Off to google a duolite, I'm in the S.W.

Have you got any pics of the Childwheels jr? I can't seem to find it by googling ...is it air tyres?

I keep coming across a Mountain Buggy too & am beginning to warm to it ....hmmm

cgi.ebay.co.uk/Childwheels-Double-Buggy-with-Carrycots-twin-pushchair_W0QQitemZ170329536215QQ cmdZViewItemQQptZUKBabyPushchairAccessoriespartsET?hash=item170329536215&trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_ trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
like this in red. i think it is quite similar to mountain buggy but cheaper second hand.

Claire2009 · 12/05/2009 14:40

Thanks jr, I like that.

Are you selling then? Where are you & How much?

jrsqueak · 12/05/2009 14:43

I am selling. am just getting round to putting on ebay. I am up near Lancaster

Sycamoretree · 12/05/2009 14:50

I've got the mountain buggy. It's flipping fantastic. Costs an awful lot new but a second hand one might be cheaper? We used it with the carry cot on one side and the seat on the other when DS was born. DD and DS are now side by side. I goes through practically every doorway. I LOVE it.

Claire2009 · 12/05/2009 14:50

Ok cool, so when you pop it on Ebay will you be doing courier or collection only?

Can you post the Ebay link here when you pop it on please?

Hmm...

Now the choice is ;

Childwheels
Nipper 360
Mountain Buggy
P&T side by side
Mamas & Papas Aria
McClaren again....(last option, very last!)

I've been looking after other people's children since ds was a baby and have tried out loads of doubles and my favourite was the Urban detour side-by-side. I can see from your list that you've used one before but that was the one I found the easiest to push with bigger toddlers in. I also loved my p&t just because I could use it as a single too. I currently have an MB and have to say the the Urban Detour is much better value.

I haven't used an Aria but they always looked like they'd be hard to push with 2 toddlers in. Also haven't used the nipper but I've heard good things about the single.

nicolamumof3 · 12/05/2009 21:38

don't get the aria!

get something with air tyres. can't recommend the nipper highly enough as a single. you need air tyres to push two toddlers comfortably. so would recommend mb, double nipper or urban detour is going to be cheaper, but possibly heavier?

anything without air tyres will be much much harder to push.
