We have a Miele. DH wanted it because his grandmother had one that run for about 30yrs!

We moved house a while ago and the machine got dropped and because it weighs something like 90kgs it broke something inside even though it was only dropped a couple of inches.

So, this meant we had to get the Miele repair guy out. The customer service was fantastic. He had to come out twice because he didn't have the part with him, and both times, we were sent a text the day before giving us a one hour time slot, he turned up when he said he would, was polite, got the machine fixed and although I would love to say he was swoonsome, I'm afraid he wasn't... We had to pay for the repair as accidental damange wasn't covered under the guarantee, but we got something like a 50% discount because it was still in the guarantee time.

So definitely worth the money I would say

Hmm a JL has opened here but I don't know if they have an electrical dept. On the website they have a Miele for £649. I might have another look around with a miele in mind, rather than being tight cautious with my money. Mine was a cheap Indesit, it lasted pretty good but I didn't think it was washing that well for the last wee while.

cargirl I was reading a thread yesterday about the machine causing holes, it's been happening to mine lately.

Doesn't anyone else have a purple dyson? I have had mine for 7 years and it is still going strong. I love it but hate dyson hoovers. Don't think they make the washing machines anymore do they? It cost around £600 and washes big loads, at least 2 a day, every day.
Just curious to know if anyone else has one.

I have a Miele and it is fab, I would never have anything else now. Previously had a Zanussi which went seriously wrong several times - ended up costing more than if I'd bought a Miele to start with. Oh, and second mawbroon's experience with Miele customer service. We broke the glass door and the service engineer was fantastic.

Another miele fan here. I have a washing machine and dishwasher and am saving for a dryer.
Our miele washing machine door is made out of the same stuff as police riot shields.
When the zombies invade we will be well defended in this house.

i wanted a miele one when ours went a few months ago but couldn't strech that far, after googling and reading reviews i went with a john lewis machine and it's fab. they are made by zannusi so the parts are easy to get, and it comes with a standard 2 year garrentee.

i use to have a hoover one and although i loved it and it had loads of cycles (28!) it only lasted 6 years, and for the last 2 years when it was on the final spin cycle it was very very loud.

We bought a wash/dryer WT2670 for around £1,000 and it broke down within the first 15mths, 3 call-outs for this including the replacement of a part.
2 years on: the machine is just about 3,5 years old and problems again, drying cycle runs through but doesn't dry. It probably won't be the last time that it breaks down. Miele praiaes itself for its "high quality products" and the machines "should last an average of 20 years or 15,000 working hours". Well, ours does not.
You have to register for this so-called Free 5-year parts and labour warranty, otherwise if you don't do it,you pay a lot of money for repairs!
So much to high quality products.
