Nothing too expensive (obviously!) or complicated. Easy to use, solid... you get the idea! Thanks.

Olympus do some ery stury ones.

What is your budget?

cariboo · 10/05/2009 15:21

yes, I agree £100 too much to spend on a child's b'day present but having looked at Which? and amazon, that seems to be the standard price for a half-decent camera.

£100 sounds about right. You could probably go alittle less if you needed to.

Well - lets start with teh features that are essential

For a 9yo I would say that physical image stabilisation is a must.

I will see what I can pick out.

mju camera's are normally sturdy (they are the ones advertised with the dog catching it from the pond - although they are not all waterproof).

DoNotAnnoy · 10/05/2009 15:36

I had the 3 megapixel version of this and it was an absolutely fantastic camera. It has a metal case (most are plastic) so very sturdy.

I am not sure this has image stabilisation though - and is probably outdated by teh newer models - so it is perhaps a little over-priced for what it is TBH

Have heard excellent reports on mju. I need something that can be dropped from 1 metre & still survive - does that exist?

I dropped my mju a few times....
