Has anyone ever used the storage bags where you suck the air out with a hoover?

Are they any good? I was thinking of using them for winter coats.

TIA

Yes, I've bought four packs from Argos over the last couple of months - the £19.95 for 6 bags ones. They are all still deflated (not leaking) in the loft and are very easy to use.

Oh good Thanks!

I'd also say they're good. I've tried v cheap ones though and the bags split, especially if you cram stuff in, like I did! I have used ones from John Lewis and they were much better. I've used them to take duvets etc. camping (haven't been able to use the bags on the way home but we are travelling lighter by then).

i bought the massive argos ones, they're fab. really made space in my cupboards (i store spare bedding in 'em)

BettyTurnip · 09/05/2009 00:21

Yes, they're ok, I used them to store outgrown baby clothes but be warned - when full of clothes and compressed they weigh a bloody ton - DH nearly ruptured himself hoicking them up into the loft

I used the Lakeland ones but I think I over stuffed them. The plug kept coming out too.

Really, I think the reality is they are too organised for my mentality and they were trying to tell me.

"We are not happy in your home, we are for organised people, hence we will inflate on you and lose our plugs so you get the message."

I think you can get the ones that don't talk to you subliminally like mine did. They are probably the ones to go for. Mine were too smart for their own good.

TearsInMyEars · 09/05/2009 00:44

mine didnt work properly because the zips never recovered from being folded up in the box when they were new, they deflated.

themoon66 · 09/05/2009 00:47

mine re-inflated themselves quite quickly and so were pretty useless. But they were the cheap jobs from Homestores.

Clary · 09/05/2009 00:51

yes I have, they were total crap.

What did I do wrong???

They were so good when shrunk down and then reinflated in about 10 mins!

KingCanuteIAm · 09/05/2009 01:20

Mine have been great, but that is not why I am posting -

Hobbgoblin I sprayed wine coffee everywhere at your post

Ponders · 09/05/2009 01:28

I put some ski jackets in one - the air came out OK, & stayed out, but the whole thing is really unwieldy & hard to handle - probably just me being incompetent but I think plastic bags/boxes would be easier

cocolepew · 09/05/2009 17:15

I never thought of them being heavy [dim] Might need a re-think.

coco- when filled and deflated, they are VERY heavy!
