drinking cups for toddlers - any sugestions?

I'm on my third dc and think dh will probably go insane if I 'invest' any more money into the seemingly endless procession of cups we have bought over the years, so I'd really like to decide on a particular kind of cup, buy a few, and have done with it.

We used to use Anywayup Cups, which worked fine for ds1 and dd1, but dd2 can't make them work, so all those ones are useless. She prefers silicone spouts, but the Tommee Tippee ones just seem to leak, and I can't be doing with the faff involved with Avent Magic Stars (too many valves and bits and pieces to fiddle about with...). AIBU?!

Do I just have to put up with one or the other, or does anyone have a fabulous cup I've never seen?? The Boots silicone one is alright but only comes in a boring green colour, and it's silicone handles rip iff quite easily. I know, I know. It's a cup.

Any suggestions gratefully received...

what age is your lo? DS used a cup with an integral straw from around 1 year. Tesco have their own version and tommee tippee do theirs too. The lid slides down over the silicon straw so it doesnt leak when you are out and about.

She is 11months and using the first sipster one - have just ordered another one and 2 of the stage 2 ones!!

My MIL got some of the stage 3 in costco for my neice and nephew last year but they havent had them since - they love them and have used them daily with no leaks!

After doing the billion cup thing with dd, ds just uses both ones we still have now
Tommee Tippee first cup (cheap, like how it folds down)
and NUK first learner cup (looks nice, soft spout)

We use the Amadeus 360 and our DS loves it. It has no spout they just suck anywhere around the rim. We have had many issues with cups... I thought they were all out to get me and then I found the Amadeus. Available in Boots or Sainsbury's.
HTH

DD is 2, I have used the Avent sports cup for quite a while. Gave up on using the annoying little disc things and just make sure it's always transported in the outside pocket of the changing bag!

Thanks for help - I checked this before there were any replies, and I haven't started a thread before, so then missed all the helpful replies posted a bit later. Of course I checked it again just now, holding clingy dd2, who is borrowing dd1's KOTG cup - no valve. As I read, I realise she has poured half a cup of water/orange juice down me, her, and laptop...
Think I will look for Amadeus & Tommee Tippee Nuby cups asap...!!

They sell the Amadeus cups in Tesco & big boots stores. They have blue, pink and now green. My ds2 loves them.

shivster1980 · 08/05/2009 19:31

oooh green - I haven't seen green! I will have to look out for that colour! DS will not drink out of anything else now.

i have just got these sippy cups for my DDs as i was worried about the whole BPA thing with their plastic beakers. have been pretty impressed so far though they're not totally spill proof which is a bit annoying.
