I have (well DD actually but thats beside the point) been invited to my very first birthday party with nursery people and dont want to turn up with useless gift. Boys (and men) are a mystery to me, is Thomas the tank engine still popular?

Mine loves books on firemen and things like that with lots of pictures of technical things. (he's 19 months tho so they might grow out of that tho huis dad hasn't)

No I haven't cod......as yet the only books I have got for my boys are Bob or Thomas ones. Oooh, and Monster ones!

When I added them to my basket tho, I was recommended these....flashing fire engines, brilliant boats, amazing aeroplanes, choo choo clakkity clakk, terrific trains and dazzling diggers.
Have you heard of them at all (they are all by the same author), and would you recommend them???

my ds is 18mths and loves thomas tank. cars and anything with wheels particularly chunky toy cars as he has a tendancy to sit on them, balls and books especially the ones that have the sounds buttons.

psychomum5 · 29/04/2005 13:51

Might just order them too then.........something for all the other kiddies to give now, seeing as I need NO MORE BALLS!!!!!!(the boys will disagree, but tis my house they kick them in!!!)

blueteddy · 29/04/2005 13:52

My ds2 is absolutly mad on Thomas the tank!
He was 2 in March & the excitment when the Thomas music comes on the TV is unbelievable!!!

blueteddy · 29/04/2005 13:54

Oh definitely the Dig, dig, digging book!
My ds1 absolutly LOVED that book & insisted on me reading it every night!
It got to the stage that I was begging him to choose another story!!!

DillyDally · 29/04/2005 14:57

Thank you all for the fab suggestions
I just hope DD hands over the pressies without a fight

Things with wheels and jigsaws. Combining the two would be ideal.

Cod - I read Dig Dig Digging nightly for the whole of DS's being 2. And 'Emergency' by the same writer / illustrator.
