Underwired bras

Does anyone really handwash theirs?

I've started having to buy more expensive bras (no more 2-packs for a tenner from M&S since bfing twice ) and am wary of my usual routine of net-bagging them and flinging int the washing machine with the rest of the laundry.

no - the old ones from M&S were brill you could wash, and tumble dry them - now they're rubbish. I have just a new underwired t-shirt bra from Matalan for £5 on the assumption that it can't wash any worse than my M&S ones at £18!

yes I have been as mine are just too expensive to risk. It doesn't take long, pop them in the sink in the bathroom, while watching tv then move and rinse in the add, soak till next add, rinse in the next and drip dry over the bath overnight and they could be ready to wear the next day.

No! I have always worn underwired bras and have never handwashed them!

I don't handwash anything......lifes to short in my oppinion!!!!!

That said, I don't spend a fortune on any of my clothes so it doesn't really matter to me. If I do have something expensive then I will pay for it to be cleaned, but not underwear!!

I don't tumble dry any of my underwear tho, as I do find it can ruin it. Besides, I get bored of my underwear fairly quickly, and it is a fab excuse to go shopping for more

I never hand wash mine - new, old, cheap or the expensive ones. I put them in a normal 40 degree wash, with everything else and they are all fine.

I put mine in a delicate wash but don't handwash any of them, even the most expensive ones. My favourite bra, a very delicate lacey thing which cost £60, lasted years of being stuck in the washing machine. (I didn't wash it every time I wore it though)

tbh i have never even heard that you ought to handwash underwired bras!

Was talking to Psycho about handwashing bras before I left her house half an hour ago!!!

Just realised that my brand new hammock sized bras say they should be handwashed... Am tempted in some wasy cos they cost a lot, but in others, life too short etc...

I handwash strapless ones because they way they don't get conditioner on them which makes em less sticky (same with hold ups).

No, I don't handwash them. They either get chucked in on the hot whites wash (if they're white & cotton), or on a delicates wash. They come out fine on either cycle.

Moving slightly away from to wash or not to wash, I'm a machine woman myself but gravity and once good bras just dont seem to give me support, any tips for good underwire bras for a lady thats a bit bigger but doesent want to wear a hammock or over the shoulder boulder holder

I do suspect that the 'handwash only' is a CYA. I just risked my £24 one in the wash and it seems fine - haven't worn it again yet though.

It honestly doesn't take much time, I suppose it is more like quick soak and rinse and not done every wear but I can't take the risk at a minimum of £48 for my R&P pretty over the shoulder boulder holders.

I think there's also an issue with the underwire coming out mid-wash and totally bggring the machine - expensive / embarrasing call out that!

That said I always put mine in and cross fingers

Did the tech identify it as a bra wire? Maybe he's seen a lot of them - embarrassing indeed!

Oh well, I don't think I'm going to find out very soon whether the bra suffered from going in the washing machine, because I think I've left it at the in-laws'. Wonder what my FIL will think? Thank goodness it's a modest one!

Pretty candles, I've always worn underwired and unfortunately expensive bras and it's a lottery throwing them in the machine even at a delicate cycle. I've had them come out with the wires pocking out and ruined. But I've found a washing bag in John Lewis the a bra can fit into and the wires are okay in this, it cost £6 and it's from the dept. that sell household cleaners, bins etc.
I'd recommend this!

always handwash mine, it's really not a big deal. and i'm so pleased to have pretty bravissimo bras it's worth it! you definitely shouldn't tumble dry them either...
