Blackberry Pearl - can you get mumsnet on it?

just wondered if anyone has a blackberry pearl, can you get mumsnet on it? how easy to use is it and is it worth the money?

also, does the internet come from the mobile phone signal? because the i believe that with the apple iphone you have to be in a wifi area to get the internet (which is no good to me)

MammaTiggy - the problem is that although I can load the site the Login for Talk will not work.

Maybe there is a way but I cannot find it.

You can on an iphone - it either uses wifi if you are in an area with that or the 3G phone signal, with the wifi being quicker

I have a blackberry bold and you can use the internet on that however it is my work phone and I know that the internet routes through the work internet (so same monitoring, site restrictions etc). I don't know how that works on personal contracts. Is the pearl the one up from the bold? The one that is more iphoneish?

I have the Curve, I can get MN on that.

ive got a pocketsurfer at the moment so i can get mumsnet out and about but its going to expire soon so i am just looking at other options. i quite like my pocketsurfer actually because i can use mumsnet really easily on it.

i think if you cant get mumsnet on the blackberry then there is no hope that i will as i am not the best with technology!

maybe i will renew my pocketsurfer

clairedeloon - i didnt know that about the iphone, so you can get the internet on it if you are not in a wifi area then, hmmm interesting

Yeah the iphone internet access works OK on 3G, but is much quicker with wifi (say if I connect at home). And of course some coffee shops etc have free wifi access to use when you're out and about.

Of course you don't always have 3G coverage (in which case internet will still work on the apple 2G system called The Edge but be slow) but I would imagine that is the same regardless of the device.

MammaTiggy · 28/04/2009 15:37

claire - is that the same with the internet on the ipod touch? can you get internet on that if you are not in a wifi area (sorry for all the questions!)

Anyone know why I have problems logging on with my Blackberry - it never gets past the Nickname and Password page? It does not seem to be able to process the text boxes.

MammaTiggy · 29/04/2009 09:35

ABetaDad - re your blackberry problem, could you try going onto mumsnet and going onto a thread (whilst not logged in) and then posting a message and typing your nickname and password into the box at the bottom, then when you post the message it automatically logs you in i think, would this work? just a thought

Thanks. I'll try that - had not thought of a sneaky way in.
