I've got a hankering (no money mind) for a small - 2 seater - leather sofa - a nice soft brown one.

Given that money's too tight to mention, anyone got any good ideas on where to find one?!

We just got a really cute one from these guys. They were mentioned in the Evening Standard ours cost £500 and is really comfy.

Babyannabel · 28/04/2005 19:23

Laura Ashley do nice ones - they are pricey but have a shop in York that sells all the ex display furniture with fab discounts.

ThePreciousIdiot · 28/04/2005 19:24

If you find one - let me know

Jbck · 29/04/2005 20:52

Jojo28 can I ask what delivery costs you paid 'cos we bought 2 sofas & a chair made by those people thru another company & ours were way more expensive than is on the website. All in for what we've got on the site it would have been about £1600 & we were actually £1900 and that was in the sale!
Our sofa is the Sienna & it was on one of those makeover shows a couple of months ago, they quoted even higher than we paid.

I got the ektorp 2 seater brown leather sofa from ikea for £395 it looks better in rl than it does on the ikea website (ask nemo1977 shes seen it lol). I'd send you the link but im not sure how if you type in ektorp in the ikea website it should come up.

Land of Leather have some good deals on at the mo

soapbox · 30/04/2005 21:33

dot1 - where are you?

There is a ex-M&S stock furniture warehouse in Deptford SE london. The leather sofas are about 40-50% cheaper than in M&S. They arrange delivery separately (we paid £35 IIRC).

Just on the off chance you are local the name of it is Bucks Furniture Warehouse.

I have also bought furniture from a company near Northampton who sell of ex posh showhouses stock! Let me know if you want details of that one!

Caligula · 30/04/2005 21:42

DFS? They're very cheap, and apparantly extremely good quality, despite the crap ads.

And must second Soapbox's Buck's Warehouse plug - wonderful place, I got my sofas and wardrobe from there, all at least half price.

I'm in Manchester, so I suppose Northampton's a possibility?!

Dot - the Northampton one wasn't that good that it would be worth travelling that far for IYKWIM!

Their stock was quite diverse and you would only pick something up by chance, so better if its somewhere you could pop into a few times that would be fine but not for a one off visit.

I'll dig out the details if you are still interested but didn't want you to have a wasted journey

marshall · 30/04/2005 22:52

£330

jojo28 · 03/05/2005 10:43

We paid £50 for delivery and for that they took our old one away - hope that helps Jbck.

handlemecarefully · 03/05/2005 10:56

Multiyork

FLUM · 03/05/2005 16:08

sorry to duplicate. the argos one looks nice too. wow that is cheap. i figure since kids gonna wreck it might as well get cheap.]

but then they do say. buy cheap. buy twice

NotTellingYet · 03/05/2005 16:41

Argos one is 195cm wide though - which isn't really dot1's "small" unfortunately.

juniperdewdrop · 03/05/2005 16:47

Got our 3 and 2 seaters from DFS almost 5 years ago and they're still in good nick. DSs have treated them as gym equipment in all that time too.

FLUM · 03/05/2005 16:49

yep we looked at dfs this weekend they had a lovely one. it was 1200 quid though. but they do the never never thing which we had never considered before. and might as well do it as they give you no discount for cash.

so on that basis dp decided he fancied a 2 grand one!! holy moly.
