cadoo mini version of cranium - fabbo - my bright [preens] 6 yo loves it

ChasingSquirrels · 27/04/2009 23:02

oh definately, if I didn't have the normal one I would get it like a shot (though if I didn't have the normal one it probably wouldn't be on my radar). I got ours in NZ several years aog - just happened across it in a gift shop and though it looked interesting for NZ$9.99 - bargain compared to UK prices.
And agree on the name.

oh I like Cadoo peanut, but my 2 (7 and 9) have now pretty much grown out of it. I keep looking for something between that and Cranium.

Not board games but..... we love

Jenga
Whot - card game (easier than uno)
othello
top trumps

Monopoly Junior is our favourite board game (much much shorter and fabbier for kids than proper monopoly)

thanks everyone
the articulate looks great but more pricey isn't it?
i like the look of the enchanted forest and several of you have recommended, so I think we'll go for that
thanks very much, i was not expecting such a big response!

My DD is 4 but loves Trivial Pursuits- we have the family edition (not the Genius one)! She thrashes me everytime at Blokus and Qwirkle. If she is into racing against the clock then 'Make n break' is excellent. DD also like Rush Hour and Rush Hour Safari.

PandaG · 28/04/2009 13:52

the articulate on the link I posted (Amazon) is £17.61. Enchanted Forest is a good game too, but very different!

I love playing games!

More obscure ones: Fluxx (fantastic for travel, anyone who can match pics and count to 5 can play with little help), Aquarius (count to 7, very simple).
SET - find sets of 3 cards. Invented by psychologists and will do everyone's head in. V simple to learn.
Bohnanza - a bean-planting and trading game.

Board games: Scotland Yard, Carcasonne (there's lots of expansions to make it more complex).

Perfection is a great elctronic one - put the bits in the holes before the time pops them all up. Marble maze.

Plain card games - Rummy (gin, 500, etc), Black Maria, cribbage, canasta, spit, racing demon...
