Does anyone have one of these sandpits?...

Plastic boat shape pit with a green lid with like a road and canal system built into it?

Am getting DS a sandpit for his bday and this is one of the ones I am looking at as even if the weather was a bit crappy he could still play with the lid part as he is obsessed by cars and boats etc.

Only thing is I want to make sure it is sturdy, large enough to sit in and holds a decent amount.

It's either that or like the old shell type ones (think it's shaped like an apple now), that have 2 plastic parts one base one as lid or to fill aside base.

First one is £40 second one is £17 which would you go for?

Thanks I just cannot make my mind up I don't have money to waste so thought I'd ask here first!

Yes I've got the one you mean and it's fine. Can also be used as a paddling pool (obviously without sand in!)

We had the boat one and it was fab - DS absolutely loved it. It was sturdy enough, and when I scrubbed it up to go on freecycle it looked like new!

I would recommend it

I have the boat too and its great - i think i currently have 4 or 5 big bags of sand in it. The only problem is the lid doesn't fit brilliantly - well it hasn't ever come off, but i put a brick on it just to make sure.

Thanks everyone think I might just go for the little cheap one as money is very tight ATM .

Thanks for your input though and I will consider it for next year if DS gets on wit this one.
