Outdoor mat for baby on concrete surface?

We have a paved-over garden/yard, no lawn at all, and I would like to get a padded, waterproof mat for my baby to sit on this summer (Hopefully he'll be sitting soon and possibly crawling at the end of the summer).

Can anyone recommend something like this? Anyone got a good solution for a sitting/crawling baby to play on a hard surface? I don't want to carry his bouncy chair up and down the stairs into the garden all th time...

Have seen a few mats in the NCT catalogue but they don't seem to be designed for outdoors and are not waterproof, have found another which is waterproof but not padded... maybe a gym mat would be better?

Thanks ladies

why not get those foam things that come in alphabet or number sets and slot together like puzzle pieces? can often get them cheaply at poundshops or similar

i would just use a regular blanket tbh. they tend to either roll off them anyway, or if baby is crawling he'll be up and away anyway.

We used 3 camping mats taped together. But that was indoors...

I was thinking the same thing for the garden.
I thought I had seen 4 rubber / foam large squares like jigsaw pieces in the ELC?
The only ones I have seen are about £20 though Ramona, tell me where you shop I will be straight round

Camping mats are made of the same stuff and cost a fraction of the price!

tesco have the alphabet/number jigsaw mats - I got the alphabet one in the sale last year for about £5 - think it is £10 normally.
