highback booster. graco or britax??

we tried the britax evolva 2-3 and a couple of different graco ones out today and all fitted ok in the car.
I then saw one of the graco ones in tk maxx for a bargain price!
But, part of me says go with Britax as it's a better name. but is that stupid??
how much difference is there between brands? I'm aware that Graco never seem to come up in Which reports on car seats, why is that?

I just am terrible at decisions. I wouldn't choose a car seat on price alone, I want what is safest for him obviously, but when you get to the highback booster stage is there really much of a difference? am I just being a snob not wanting the Graco?

we're fitting 3 seats across the back and he will be in the middle, which is the safest place anyway I think? and the Graco seat was marginally narrower making it easier for me to plug it in, but as I say, both brands did fit ok.

what would you choose???

I have one of each, I bought the Britax ex bought the Graco and I honestly prefer the Britax.
The head rest curves round further in the Britax which is far better for sleeping DS never looks as comfy when he falls asleep as DD. The Britax just seems to be a more comfortable looking seat to be honest and if I could afford it would buy another to replace the Graco. There was a HBB that came off badly in WHICH reports but Graco did eventually change the design etc to bring it up to scratch.

yeh, i thought the britax looked comfy. dp thought the Graco did as it was less padded and gave ds1 more space.

blah. too many decisions. we decided to let ds1 choose and he said he hated them both lol

The Graco does appear to have more space but that actually with us seems to work against us it is the less curled head rest and side protection actually make it less comfortable looking with a child in it. I mean dd is a big 5 year old and is extremely comfortable in her seat prefers it to the Graco one (she has one of them in Grannies car)as it supports her better.

cool, thanks. it's nice to hear from someone who has tried both!

We have both britax in my car and graco in the inlaws.
DS2 has just had a growth spurt (he is 4) and complained today when out with granny that his seat was uncomfy. I had adjusted it this morning when they picked him up but even tho the headrest was at the right height he seemed a bit squished at the shoulders.
He regularly sleeps in the britax in my car and has not mentioned being uncomfortable since we had to adjust the height.
So i would go for the britax as altho it looks less roomy i think it is a better shape to adapt to growing kids.

i have a britax hi-liner,my sister has a graco and the hi-liner is much more supportive on my lo,headrest is also a much better shape to support him when he falls asleep,
the hi-liner is quite narrow too,i have 2 hi-liners and a maxi-cosi cabrio in the back of my little car,

thisisyesterday · 18/04/2009 21:45

yeh you don't seem to be able to get hi-liners anymore except from halfords. am annoyed as I nearly got one frm there a few weeks ago when they were half price. went in today and they were £89.99!!!

OMG lol i got mine from halfords and it was £29.99,the other we got from tesco for £14.99,
im sure the evolva 2-3 is more or less the same seat??

thisisyesterday · 19/04/2009 19:58

yes, evolva is pretty much the same, but it's slightly wider so the hi-liner did appeal.
