What's the big deal about these things? Everyone seems to be wearing them around here, even the older mums. Is this a local Swiss fad or has it hit the UK too?

I love mine. Have about 10 pairs in various styles, low tops and hi.
Very comfy and goes well with my slightly alternative/gothy/emo-y/kooky style.

mogs0 · 18/04/2009 20:24

I have a pair and they are v comfy!!

Marthasmama · 18/04/2009 20:25

I LOVE my Cons. I have worn them for 20 years (bloody hell - that's a bit scary)! I have about 15 pairs. You can't go wrong with Cons. DH wears them and so does DS.

WorrisomeHeart · 18/04/2009 20:31

They are brilliant!! Have worn them for about 10 years (not the same pair of course ) Have a look on the converse website - you can design your own!

nicolamumof3 · 18/04/2009 21:24

yes fabby, my ds is huge fan he has three pairs!

spicemonster · 18/04/2009 21:26

Can I just ask - do you think there is a max age you can wear hi-tops? I have just bought some new red ones but am thinking I am poss a bit elderly for them.

oregonianabroad · 18/04/2009 21:27

i like them but don't actually find them comfortable -- they need more support. I usually buy one size too big and then get DR Scholls or soomething.

Spice, no age limit. Don't be daft.

MrsMattie · 18/04/2009 21:27

I find them really uncomfortable. Am I the only one? I want to like them, but they give me blisters

Bluestocking · 18/04/2009 21:29

I'm with you, MrsM. I wore them as a teenager (cripes, that's now almost 30 years ago) because they were cool, but they were never comfortable. Plus they made my feet stink. But I like them on other people!

MrsMerryHenry · 18/04/2009 21:36

I don't like the look of them, myself. Too 'sports casual'

VinoEsmeralda · 18/04/2009 22:02

My stiletto heels are more comfortable then my converses, I kid you not!

Megglevache · 18/04/2009 22:04

yes love them and ds does too, we bought dd her very first powder pink pair and she is in bed with them now snoring (I kid you not!)

cariboo · 19/04/2009 11:23

I bought a pair of white ones (boring but only other colours in my size were lime green or purple) but the lace-ups are a nuisance. Maybe some slip-on ones? Anyway, they look great with jeans

I love them. There was a Converse outlet quite close when I was a teen and me and a friend would make the hour long drive there every month. I still have some amazing burgundy leather ones that cost me £4 when I was 19 hehe.

tattycoram · 19/04/2009 11:27

I love them too - have four pairs at the mo

cariboo · 19/04/2009 11:28

and they're surprisingly comfortable! tbh, I'd like some red ones

I love mine too, just got a new pair and fallen in love all over again although I think they just get better with age

Megglevache · 19/04/2009 20:03

but they stink after a summer.

Marthasmama · 19/04/2009 20:52

That's why I have 15 pairs Meg, so I can rotate and they don't get stinky. They are easy enough to wash though, just chuck them in the machine.

Megglevache · 20/04/2009 08:58

ahhh you are hardcore!
