What dishwasher should I buy next?

Our lovely Whirlpool (I think) dishwasher has just broken. The door isn't opening or closing properly, and although it could probably be repaired, I think since it's now six years old, getting a new one is probably more economical.

Which would you suggest or recommend? Anyone know what the current Which best buys are? (that's how we chose our last one)

We're a family of 4, and use the dishwasher a lot so probably need full size or extra large. It needs to be freestanding.

On the Which best buys, just join up for a £1 free trial and see what they are, then cancel it.

Miele. We have had 2 which have been brilliant and the first one didn't give up the ghost or anything it was just that we left it behind in our old house as our new one had a built in Smeg, which was rubbish, we got rid of it and got a freestanding Miele, and it never fails.

We have a Bosch one which I'm very happy with.

I'd get a Miele. I've got a Bosch at the moment which is fine, but nothing more. I think it is 3 years old now but the seal has had to be replaced and it has broken down a fair few times.

Miele, Miele, Miele, Miele

Right, I'm sold on Miele. Any particular model, or are they all good?

I reckon they are all good, solidly built etc. Just buy according to your budget. There are some good deals on free extended warranties about, we recently got a Miele washing machine with free 10 year guarantee for parts and labour or replacement, which is pretty reassuring.

Dilettante · 13/04/2009 12:46

Just had a look at the Miele website they are doing 5 year guarantees on all models, one of which is a Which? best buy.

ScummyMummy · 13/04/2009 12:46

Good choice. Our Miele has coped with everything thrown at it. They are brilliant. We've always bought at the cheaper end of the range- have washing machine and dishwasher- and they're fab.

Kiwinyc · 13/04/2009 20:52

Miele if you can afford it, which we couldn't (needed a built-in which cost more). Our new Bosch is doing fine instead. Difference in Which? scores was negligible.

Thanks for those points.
