I have a few weeks off 3yr old dd and a 1yr old ds, i currently dont drive but that is looking to change, test booked for beg june

will prob be getting a refund on my phil and teds sport due to zips breaking again (already had it replaced once in a year)

but if i do replace it i am at a loss as to what to do, i have a icandy cherry that i was meant to be selling but didnt, should i just put a buggyboard on that

dd is fine to walk really but has become a bit lazy and gets jealous of ds in the buggy but has gotten bored of back seat of my phil and teds and i think ds should be in the front now

sometimes i thnk i could do without a doublke but then we go to Legoland and on long days out like that i wonder how i would manage???

Hey, I have a 3yo and a 9mth old and not had a double (well, I bought a double but used it once). We use (Ergo) sling and single and buggyboard and it's fine. Dd LOVES her buggyboard, I sometimes end up pushing empty buggy as dd is on buggyboard and ds in sling .

FWIW I had my buggyboard on my Cherry (have had a couple of other pushchairs)and it worked great. With it rearfacing, the kids can 'chat' - so cute

i originally didnt want a dbl but it all went pear shaped when ds was born and dd either felt jealous that ds was in the sling or that he was in the buggy

but i think it will be better now, i dont really want to sling ds now as he likes his buggy and my back is bad enough as it is but i need something for dd as that means she cant go in the seat

D'you want my old E3? No zip problems for us and have had 3 years out of it.

Why are your zips breaking BTW? ? you should be way out of using the flat-bed.

At least with a Phil and Ted you can choose when to "lose" the back seat and make it a single.

Def go for buggyboard. try and get her to try it out, dd was begging me to get one as she tried her friend's first...

I have the same age gap between my 2 DS' - I don't drive and use the P&T every day. DS1 scoots on his mini micro scooter most of the time and DS2 now always has the front seat. If DS1 is feeling too tired to walk or scoot he gets the back seat - I don't care if he is a bit too big for it now as I'm trying to wean him off the buggy all together

I have a little Maclaren buggy with a buggy board which is popular with both boys, but no where near as nice to push!

Why are your zips breaking do you think? Are your DC's climing on the seat a lot? Mine are treated quite roughly by the boys but have held out for nearly 2 years so far.

FlyMeToDunoon · 11/04/2009 21:49

I had same age gap and used P&T for around a year.
Then got a Maclaren xt and buggy board.
DD2 now 4 and is the lazier, wants to be in a buggy and Dd3 is keen to be out running around.
I have a Mountain Buggy now as well as a maclaren and DD2 sits on the front footplate for a ride sometimes.
I just sold the buggy board.

the tags breaks off the zipper, i know its a common fault as p and t manufacture ribbons as a temporary fix until main seat fabric is replaced

dd refuses to sit in the back unless she is so tired that she gets in and sleeps

its a hard decision as i do really like the p and t but it irrritates me that it was so ££££ and keeps breaking, also in the summer i was getting cross at the lack of sunshade so as i have the chance to change it now perhaps i could get something to remedy it

littleducks i recently faced same dilema, was pushing p&t with v.often an empty doubles seat so thought there must be a better three wheeler out there for the money p&t £££££ 'lets sell and get a mountain buggy' i sold p&t for good price to afford a new mb, but at last minute wobbled over expense and bought a much, much cheaper three wheeler (a nipper 360) that im in love with and a maclaren quest. therefore on long days out hubby can push ds2 (3.4yr) in quest, and ds3 21m can go in nipper that i now adore, its so much lighter than the p&t. The p&t is fab as a double but as a single i just thought there was and have been proved there is a far superior single three wheeler. However ds2 who was such a good walker has now decided he wants to get in buggy he doesn't want to walk etc, so i have just bought a buggyboard which i hope to use on nipper and maclaren. i am also considering buying a cheap e3 as well i just can't decide!!! its ridiculous but cannot cope with wingey tired child demanding carrying! we don't drive we walk alot im hoping buggyboard might be answer?!

Washersaurus · 11/04/2009 22:56

The problem I have with the buggy board is that whilst it is fab for short distances, when we go out on longer trips DS1 gets too tired to stand on it (poor lamb) and wants to be carried. We do live at the top of a big hill so I can't blame him .

I would highly recommend the Mini Micro scooter for your DD; DS1 rides everywhere on his these days (and when he gets too tired I hook the P&T strap over the handles and pull him up the hills ). It is quite small and sits on the hood of the buggy when not in use.

nicolamumof3 · 11/04/2009 22:58

how old is your ds, im thinking of introducing mini micro scooter now for school runs my ds2 is 3.4yr?

Washersaurus · 11/04/2009 23:00

DS1 is 4 in July but had his scooter for his 3rd birthday. DS2 who will be 2 in July has just started scooting around on it too, so looks like he will be getting one for his birthday this year too.

They really are fab, having DS1 on his makes getting around so much faster
