Please help!! I'm taking DS to 3 weddings this summer and am desperate to find him a really nice smart(ish) outfit to wear and am completely at a loss.

I'm not sure I like the mini suit look too much - I think he's really too little to wear a tie - but would like something like trousers and matching waistcoat and a nice shirt. All the weddings are mid-summer so he probably won't need a jacket.
I've looked at M&S and Next and have been unimpressed. Any other suggestions?!?

(P.S. Those of you with girls are so lucky, they're so much easier to shop for!!)

vertbaudet may be worth a look

For the wedding we are going to DS is wearing gorgeous brown sandals, brown long linen shorts, pale blue Ralph Lauren polo shirt and pale blue tank top from French Connection.

monsoon - really cute

Trousers, waistcoats and shirts are listed separately but you do have a good choice of 6 waistcoat and trouser sets plus even more shirts.

If you are so inclined Monsoon resells on ebay really well - I'd have to keep them for posterity though.

The other thing I'd think about for summer weddings is maybe buying long shorts. Like suwoo I dressed my boys in long linen shorts for summer weddings when they were toddlers. They wore these with their sandals - had they had trousers I guess they would have needed shoes which when they were little they didn't necessarily have to fit in mid summer

If it is to be in the warmer summer months I would suggest, knee length tailored shorts, smart sandals and a white linen polo shirt.

John Lewis had some lovely outfits when we were in there today

My DS wore a light, linnen Monsoon suit to a wedding when he was 3.5. It was matching trousers, waistcoat and jacket with this Monsoon shirt - no tie - and it looked fantastic. I can really recommend geting a waistcoat as well as a jacket, as you can take off the jacket when it's hot (or when they are eating, and you want to be able to cover up any spills later with the jacket). Everyone thought he looked so cool, but not too formal.

For a wedding last summer DS had long, linen shorts, white linen shirt (Grandad shirt style) and a Monsoon striped tank-top.

monsoon and vertbaudet and also jojo maman bebe and john lewis.

i have three boys and am currently dressing the two youngest for my own wedding in July! they have two outfits each so far!!!

vertbaudet/jojo maman bebe

Shimmer · 11/04/2009 23:04

Ahhh Brilliant. I'm loving the stuff in Jojo Maman Bebe and Monsoon. For some reason I had assumed Monsoon was only girls clothes. I think I'm going to end up getting him 2 outfits, one from each! One of the weddings is early May, so will probably not be that hot, and the others mid-July and August, so he's getting a proper summer outfit with shorts for those 2.

Thanks so much for your help everyone! And Happy Easter!
