How old / big can a toddler be before they refuse to get in the back of a Phil & Teds?

OK, so they must be good pushchairs otherwise the world and his wife wouldn't have one but I just can't quite bring myself to belive it would last until the DCs are walking all the time. What do you think? Please say I'm wrong so I can just buy one and go out!

DCs are 16 months and brand spanking new (Sunday ). Also looking at Maclaren Twin Triumph but worry that I won't be able to get through doors.

Many thanks for tolerating this question for probably the billionth time.

Congrats on new baby!

I would recommend it, all in all has been great, but will point out problems too.

I have a dd 3yrs and a ds 19mths, have had a phil and teds since ds was born. It's been great until the last mnth. Used to switch round which child sat in back, my dd is quite small so didn't make much difference, but now she complains and will only sit in the front.

She is too tall for the back now really, it would tip over with just her in the back, and like I said she is a small 3 yr old. This wouldn't be such a problem but my ds is also starting to complain when sat in the back.

Having said that I don't think it'll be long before dd is walking everywhere, so will revert back to single pushchair for ds. So unless your little ones are particularly tall, think it should be OK.

Have you checked out the mn reviews? Loads of reviews for phil and teds.

congrats,
i would also reccommend it,
the oldest goes in the front anyway when the youngest is 6 months so theres plenty room for them,
when i picked mine up from the baby shop i put my 3yo and 4yo in it,and they both could fit in the doubles seat,i was 7months preg and it was still easy to push,
if you change your mind they still have a really good re-sale value,

Thank you; it's not an easy decision!

definitely get it perfect age gap for one. i have 18m between my two youngest and just got rid of p&t two months ago. ds2 is now 3.4yr and ds3 is 21m i am however looking at getting another as ds2 still doesn't always want to walk they are the best double. i had a twin mac but it was impossible to push when the 'baby' became a chunky toddler. two toddlers in a twin mac is a heavy job! you def need air tyres. and your 16m will be in pushchair daily for at least another 2yrs so its worth the investment!

i found it handy especially on days out,
i dont really use a buggy as i have to drive everywhere(we stay in the middle of nowhere!)
so only use it the odd time, but i will miss it on holidays and days out when the older ones get tired,
well worth the money though, i was lucky and got a cheap second hand one from a friend, but they are prob better buying new as the re-sale value is great on them (i just sold my E3 for £300!)

nicolamumof3 · 12/04/2009 18:32

thats a fab price for an E3! i was pleased getting that for my sport!!! well done.

lol i know i nearly died when the auction ended, had to pinch myself lol,and the best thing was the lady emailed me to say she had just been for a test drive with it and was over the moon
i now have a new lappy top instead of a buggy tho lol!

Conaratulations on your baby!

MY youngest are 3 and nearly 6 , and would still like to ride in it....he does fit still as he'a samll for his age, but when he is 6, I think I'll be selling it on, or I can see my self still pushing him around when he's a teenager.

sazm · 12/04/2009 22:16

lol my 4(nearly 5)yo is the exact same lol, with the baby in it i had my 3yo and 4yo arguing over who got to go in the buggy lol!

nicolamumof3 · 12/04/2009 22:21

im actually getting another after selling mine! my ds2 will still go in it at 3.4yrs its just whether ds3 at 21m will sit in back?

Stuffed · 12/04/2009 22:57

Mine argue over who is going in the back.
