Where can I get a 150x200 duvet cover?

Made a mistake - bought a new single duvet from Ikea (and opened it) before realising that their sizes are weird, and a single duvet from there is WAY bigger than our single duvet covers. So we need some new duvet covers...

If I was a real mother I could make them, I'm sure, but I'm 38 weeks pg and I've never used a sewing machine, so I need to buy some - but from WHERE? Anyone have any recommendations of places that sell pretty, plain, cotton duvet covers (for a spare room, ie for adults, not for children). I've googled...

TBH I've never seen covers to fit anywhere except for Ikea...

NellieTheEllie · 08/04/2009 20:48

err, Ikea?

2jamsandwiches · 08/04/2009 20:50

ok ok, yes, it's a stupid question, and I KNOW Ikea sell them... thing is, they don't sell them online, and it's a hell of a trip to go there. so i was hoping there might be somewhere else...

Ah, I was just about to say Ikea Luckily I was warned beforehand, as I went there recently to buy dd some new bedding. I'd have been heartbroken to get home and reaise none of it would fit. Their duvet covers are very reasonable, and actually dd prefers the bigger size duvet so I don't mind having to buy them from there. I think you can get them home delivered too if you can't face another ordeal trip to the store.
Failing that, it would be an easy job for someone who knows how. The ladies in my local fabric shop are lovely, I'm sure if you went to get the material from a nice one they could make you one in no time

no, definitely can't buy online, I just checked again... We don't have a car and it's such a pain to get there on public transport even when not heavily pg...

I thought a standard single duvet cover was 150x200? I've bought double and kingsize covers in Ikea in the past and they've fitted my non-Ikea duvets perfectly.
Could you 'force' the duvet into the cover by folding the side over or something until you can get back to Ikea or maybe have a look on ebay for some Ikea bedding?

norktasticninja · 08/04/2009 22:07

Standard size is 140x200cm IIRC

saggyhairyarse · 08/04/2009 22:07

The covers I bought in the sale at John Lewis fit my Ikea duvet.

Habitat also sell Eurpopean sized bedding.

You can get some from ebay. A little bit more expensive but saves the hussle. Just look for ikea children duvet cover. I just bought some. Good luck! grin
