Bugaboo Bee canopy. Do they keep out the sun?

Have just acquired a second hand Bee (have to keep reminding myself it's secondhand so I don't feel like a squanderbug!). It has a red hood but I wondered how good they are at keeping out the sun IYSWIM. I think it might still be quite bright under it if it's very sunny and that black might be the way to go, but black is boring.

Or am I looking for an excuse to buy another hood?

I have a pink bug and am looking at buying the sun canopy hood thing as I don't think it blocks out enough sun and baby is turning her head away...1st buggy that even the hood isn't enough shade and for the price it cost am a bit .... But for the rest of it I love the bee ....only been using it a week though !
