Urgently need a wider than normal loo seat

My mum's moved house today and the people have taken the seat from the only loo with them. So we quickly got a loo seat from local DIY shop only to find it won't fit.

The holes on the loo are 10.5" apart which seem sabout 4" further apart than normal.

I've tried googling for wide toilet seats but only get disability type stuff.

Thanks.

What a bunch of twats! I'd be complaining to the estate agent/solicitor. Which is no help but FGS, who takes the farking loo seat without replacing it???

Sorry, forgot to do the 1st link! Doesn't matter, I don't think it was a shop...

Have to go and convert the " to cm...

26.67cm... wow

You could try your nearest architectural reclaimer's yard. Some of the older style toilets had much wider seats (and sturdier than the bonded wooden ones nowadays

Can I just add, how tight was that to take the toilet seats when they moved house?
I bet they took the lightbulbs too.

LadyOfScoffleTheEasterEggs · 04/04/2009 12:13

ignore my links, too small...

You can buy a whole toilet from Wickes for £68, I have just seen a large loo seat for £70 (and one for £194 )

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 04/04/2009 12:29

Thanks for looking. I don't think we have a reclamnation yard anywhere near us. Even my Victorian outdoor loo seat won't fit it, she could have it if it did as we don't use it.

try a professional plumbers shop, they often have adjustable loo seats. i am a loo seat expert having got through tons but that's a whole other thread..

mad they took it with them as chances are it won't fit their new one.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 04/04/2009 14:56

Local plumbers can't help.

I've identified now though that its an Ideal Standard Brasilia loo - found a seat but its £129 plus postage.

Blimey - get a new loo!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 04/04/2009 20:09

Well it would be cheaper to get a new loo, but by the time she's got a plumber in to fit it and then bathrrom will probably need retiling as well...... How can a plastic loo seat be so much?

OP posts:
southeastastra · 04/04/2009 20:16

is it actually the loo seat that's wider than normal or the holes at the back?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 04/04/2009 20:48

Just the holes at the back rather than the seat.

can find this but not sure of measurements.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 04/04/2009 22:01

No good but thanks, hinges adjust to 22cm, I need them up to 26cm.
