Anyone got a iRobot Roomba (or similar robot vacuum cleaner)?

And what do you think?
Do you recommend them?

DH saw one in action at one of DD's friend's house earlier this week and the mum says it is great.

yes we have one

It's very good as you can get on and do other stuff while the hoovering is being done, much more efficient if you have it do one room at a time

I have one. I was fun for the first few weeks, but we havent used it for months now. By the time I had cleaned all the brushes and emptied the dust compartment on the Roomba, I felt like it would have been easier just to do the vacumming myself.

How does it cope at the top of stairs? Does it fall down?

It doesnt fall down the stairs. It has a sensor that detects when it is coming to a vertical drop.

There are lots of videos of Roombas on Youtube. I remember seeing one of a Roomba moving around on a table, showing how it manages to not fall off the edge of whatever it is on.
