children's cd player

When my dd was a baby we put an old cd player of ours in her room.

She has always loved it and is really passionate about music now.

A few months ago she worked out how to use the cd player by herself and all was going swimmingly!

However, one day she pushed the lid to close it a bit too roughly and oooooops - it broke.

We are looking to buy her a new cd player for her birthday.

We would prefer her to be able to work the thing herself, but equally, do not want her little but not always too careful fingers to break it.

Does anyone know about childproof CD players? Or maybe (tries not to be too scared of technology) ip3 players.... Recommendations please!!!!

She is three years old.

I am not sure whether to get one specifically for children or a particularly hardy normal one.

What are your experiences starlightMcKenzie?

The ELC one is rubbish but they will give you a new one if it breaks-we're on our 4th .

Be warned you have to buy your own plug which is also rubbish and is quite pricey.

Will watch with interest to see if there are any others.

Interesting.... But how is the sound quality on theses ones designed for children?

I suppose I was looking for something that would sound good too. DD does have lots of nice cds. World folk music, jazz and a growing collection of classical stuff - It is music that deserves good speakers. So good speakers are must.

I would rather she can't move it around (this would be just asking for being broken in the case of my DD IMHO)
