had my hair straightened by a friend this weekend for the first time ever - she has GHD's and says she would never use anything else..

they are expensive but it was very quick and easy and has left my hair looking great!

should I buy some?

I say yes. I possibly don't know what i'd do without my GHDs, before they came about and we used the rubbish steam straighteners m hair was like a lions main as soon as i stepped outside. I even ironed my hair with the clothes iron. But really GHDs are great and they do great curls too.

it has made my hair poker straight and not frizzy - is there a way I can get rid of the fluff without it being quite so poker straight?

I used to have ghds and then got cheaper ones when they broke. I used my friend's ghd's at the weekend and I can't believe I''ve been using the crap ones for so long. GHD only for me from now on.

Bonneville · 29/03/2009 23:19

Yes yes yes!!!

PrammyMammy · 29/03/2009 23:22

You can curl and wave your hair with them too greyskull, if you just don't go over your hair so much it won't go so poker straight.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 29/03/2009 23:23

so can I straighten the length then curl the end under bob styleeee?

i need some new ones, have found a site where they are abit cheaper but i dont know if they are real, what do you all think?
www.onlineghd.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=1

FlappyTheBat · 29/03/2009 23:34

YES

Have gone through 3 sets of cheaper straighteners which has cost me more than a set of GHD's.

Finally bought a set a year ago and think that they are great. Should just have bought them to begin with and saved myself a lot of money and hair!!

Snufflebufty · 29/03/2009 23:36

I would be very wary of buying from there. Apart from the fact the website has an email address that is [email protected] and they are the offiial retailers.....

I have heard you have to be very careful that you arent buying fake ghd's online. Try the ghd website, they wont be so cheap but at least you know you are getting the real thing. They real ones have a hologram that you can register.

hth

FlappyTheBat · 29/03/2009 23:38

nancy75, they look like the real thing and seem to have the same labeling and packaging that mine have.

Mine cost £100 so price does seem really good.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 29/03/2009 23:39

there is quite a good deal ont eh GHD.co.uk site £96 for straighteners heat mat and hair product - not certain but it feels quite a good deal.

Have just gone on to the real GHD website and they have a link to a page explaining about the fake ghd websites.

might be worth a look, they are selling ghd's for £98 at the moment.

pebbles79 · 30/03/2009 08:39

Can't remember where I bought mine from but I checked on the official GHD website that the place I was buying them from was official. I definitely wouldn't be without mine, had a set for 4 years and when they broke I bought a cheaper set and they just weren't as good so got some new lovely pink GHD's. Curling with them is easier than you think too, have a look on youtube for videos on how to curl with them, I've done them on a few people now.
