I haven't bought a new mobile for about 10 years. Can anyone recommend one to me?

I'd like it to be robust, and it would be great if it could take (reasonable quality) video.

I think I'm going to get a v cheap Virgin contract, and they offer some phones for free: see here so ideally it would be one of them.

Thanks

As a telecoms eng I would say go with which ever brand you are most comfortable with, as its easier to have an operatin sysytem that you are familiar with, althoughif you havent bought one in 10 years things have probably changed a bit since then

Honestly I would go for a nokia, good all rounder, not complicated or fussy, quite durable. From the cheapest tarrif probably the 5200 would be a good bet if you arent very fused on having an all singing all dancing type thing?

Depends what you want really?

Ooh so glad you said that. Current antique mobile is Nokia, and I think it has a great operating system.

The 5220 is the one that appealed to me immediately (based on sod all information) so you've made me strangely happy by validating my preference

there are no where near as durable as the ones made 10 years ago though!

MerlinsBeard · 28/03/2009 20:26

what do you need it to do?(camera/video/internet/just phone/etc)

retiredgoth2 · 28/03/2009 20:32

...there are quite a few choices on the market. Many people love these.

...you might consider this instead, though.

But I definitely prefer this phone

...plenty of choice there for you!

I dont think virgin offer that one on a £.8.50 a month tarrif goth - but, if you can get them to, then I'll have one

retiredgoth2 · 28/03/2009 20:50

Ah. Think I saw that Virgin deal.

...you get this one on that tariff, don't you?

MerlinsBeard · 28/03/2009 20:58

DH is finding lots of things his iphone does NOT do and which there is no app (yet) for ie video - zoom on the camera ... he does love it though
