Are conservatory roof blinds effective at reducing heat?

Our SE facing conservatory gets unbearably hot on sunny days, and we are wondering whether roof blinds would make a significant difference.

Thomas Sanderson have quoted us £5000 (it's quite big) for SolarTex blinds that they claim can reduce heat by 70%. It seems very expensive, but they say they are very good quality, guarenteed for 5 years and warn that cheaper ones can go saggy and look awful.

Does anyone have any experience of either T.S. or the competition, so we can decide whether it's really worth it?
