Five point harness for 38lb plus

I really want to put my daughter in a five point harness. She is currently using a high back booster, but I worry this is not safe enough. Seen a few crash dummy test and the protection is terrible. Shes only 3, can any one help?

Can you not go back to her stage 1 seat? They are suitable up to 40 lbs.

really I thought 38lbs was 18kg, must be wrong. Thank you. But what to do then, 2lbs could be gained in a matter for a few weeks.

Have you checked her weight? 1kg is equal to 2.2 lbs, so 40lbs is nearly 18kg.

The 5 point harness can only be used upto 25kg, then you have to revert to the seatbelt, even in the high back booster seat.

I have checked loads of makes, and it would appear that you have to take the five point harmess off when they reach 18kg (regardless of age).

It does worry me too, as if you have a chunky child who could be 2.5 and be over the weight for a 5 point harness, but they can escape from the standard seat belt.

Why dont you contact the likes of Britax and ask them what they would recommend!

Will watch this with interest!

In 12 months DS has only gained 2lbs. Their weight gain really slows down once they get to about 18 months.

Thanks guys, have emailed britax. I believe they used to do a seat that went up to 25kg but stopped making it. I will wait for a reply.

I've got a britax elite but it's imported.

on here it says 5 point recommended until 18kg which implies you can use it for as long as it fits.

the sell special needs car seats that would work but they are £500!
