I don't want another maclaren xt

I've got £100 to buy a second hand buggy. I'm tall (5ft10) and have had a XT but am bored and want something different but without risking my back.

have also got an urban detour 3 wheeler and the bebecar mcity - both have good height but they are going too.

doesn't necessarily have to be umbrella as will keep the xt if need to for the car, but needs to be able to sit in hallway.

how about the m&p luna or p3; sc pop or dazzle? any others. Handle height of 107/108 would be manageable but nearer the 110cm of the XT would be ideal.

ds is 6mths and rather large so assuming this weight gain continues he's likely to be tall but I want something that can last for next 2yrs.

don't get a p3, the handles don't go so high and it's a nighmare to push on vaguely uneven ground when they get heavy, curbs are very difficult with older children in

What about a mountain buggy? my dp is 6ft and doesn't find it too small.

Get a Baby Jogger City Mini - they are fantastic - really light yet feels sturdy, and the handle is high.

Love it love it love it

Argos had them in the sale for £65 but not sure if there's any left

Silver cross pop similar to xt with high handles and dazzle is fabulous and much easier to push as has better suspension, I've had both (amongst a million others!!)

My ds is 9 months and quite big and we just got a Britax Vigour 4+ second hand for £60. We don't bother folding it and it just sits in our hall (we are in a first loor flat and it is extremely easy to bump up the stairs). I have a little Maclaren from when dd was in a pushchair but I don't really like using it as ds still seems so little and he prefers facing me. I feel a bit lost pushing him along without being able to see him. Good adjustable handle, and seems to be very comfy for him too. BUT we don't have a car so I've no idea if it folds small enough to fit into a boot.

theres a few to choose there. thanks.

like the britax. off to find the others.

Carrielou - does the dazzle have relatively high handles?

Very high, I'm 5 foot 8 and I found them a bit high!! Very stylish if you get the black on black, very smooth ride (sort of glides) and it takes a much greater weight than the standard buggy (partly why I wanted it for my very very tall girl!!)

If it's more a walking buggy I would think about air tyres though they will be heavy and a bugger to store/fold.

twinklytoes · 26/03/2009 21:44

I really want a dazzle if I'm honest. I will head out and try one.

I loved mine, very stylish, funky and very unusual. There is an ebay seller that I know from someone who bought one from and was very very pleased with it, bradfordbabycare and affordablebabygoods they sell them for 69.99 or 99.99 with the apron/footmuff thing (well worth it!)

The only thing I didn't like is the raincover is an all over one which is great as it totally covers and no damp hoods like maclaren but it does take up the whole of the shopping basket. I uses a clippasage net bag in the end but it always niggled me.

Enjoy!!

Another vote for Baby Jogger City Mini. I just bought one as getting so fed up with Maclaren Quest handles being too low and it's really fab. My DD is 2 and very tall and is much comfy in it than the Maclaren. Plus lies back nearly flat.
