I wear trainers constantly (except if I am dressed to go out which isnt very often). I have to buy new trainers every couple of months, is this normal????

I do everything in my trainers, walk the dogs play with the dc's, work. How long should they last?>

I used to live in trainers, and they did only last a couple of months, so I don't think there's anything unusual in that. I now live in leather ankle boots with laces (cos I like them) - but they last more like a couple of years, so they're a better investment.

singyswife · 25/03/2009 14:44

Dont think I can walk the dogs in slippers lol. Thanks for answering though

I only wear trainers for excercise. In the winter I wear lots of boots, summer I wear ballet pumps, wedges, flip flops. I also wear a lot of heels. I own far too many shoes

bohemianbint · 25/03/2009 14:47

I wear converse all the time - the pair I have now have been going about a year and a half! (good god, hadn't realised!) I do need a new pair now though, they are getting a bit shabby...

singyswife · 25/03/2009 14:48

Why cant I keep shoes for long. I LOVE the trainers I am in at the moment, they are Nike, pink things but the sole on both trainers has completely split. Boo hoo

Docs all day every day, except when I'm hill walking, then it's my walking shoes.

Nowt comfier than docs, and they'll last flipping aaaages.

I'll probably get some sandles or pumps in the summer.

singyswife · 25/03/2009 14:49

See I even wear trainers in the summer, all summer. I have stupid feet and a dodgy back and anything else just hurts.

I wear trainers all the time too. Mine last for ages as I usually have a few pairs on the go and rotate them. My current pairs are an Adidas stan smith pair which are muddy and so I use when it's been raining and its muddy outside they are about 5 years old, A smarter cleaner pair of Adidas ones which do for school run etc that are 2 years old and a pair of Air max which ive had for 6 years and are falling apart but cant part with them and are fine to wear as long as its not raining! If I'm going anywhere remotely nice I wear ballet pumps, boots etc.

singyswife · 25/03/2009 14:56

I only ever have one pair of trainers at a time, maybe this is the solution. Buy more pairs.

bllody hell what are you lot DOING in your trainers? i walk for at least an hour a day, usually more, as well as all the usual running round the house etc, wear trainers constantly - at the minute i have a pair of animal skateboard ones that i have had for 3 years and a pair of dunlop green flash that are 7 years old!

perhaps i am particularly light of foot and you are all galumphers

singyswife · 25/03/2009 15:08

Hhhhmmmmm I dont know what I do to mine but I am 3 stone over weight so maybe I am a 'galumpher' .

i wear converse and they last about 6 - 8 months

HelloBeastie · 25/03/2009 15:20

I got my Converse trainers (there seems to be a theme emerging here!) nearly a year ago and I wear them pretty much every day, and they're fine. Well, they could maybe do with a bit of a clean, but that wouldn't be very rock and roll, now would it...

MrsMattie · 25/03/2009 15:20

I used to be a trainer freak, and always had a couple of pairs on the go. They lasted about 3-4 mths before they looked battered.

The Uggs I bought in September are slightly scruffy but definitely still wearable and ~I've been wearing them most days.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/03/2009 15:21

I mostly wear Merrell's. They are sort of a cross between trainers and walking shoes and they could last for years (if you don't get bored of them )

lou222 · 25/03/2009 15:29

i always feel a bit scruffy in trainers - though they always look good on others also i can't be arsed tying the laces
so i live in boots in the winter and birkenstocks in summer
i have a million pairs of pre baby shoes that i just don't wear now

KnitterInTheNW · 25/03/2009 15:31

I've spent the last 4 winters in an old version of these. They still look new and are sooo comfy.

BarefootShirl · 25/03/2009 15:47

I live in flip flops (or, more often, bare feet) and get through 2-3 pairs each year. Only wear "proper shoes" when the occasion really forces me to so they tend to last for ever.
