Recommendatiosn needed for either a camcorder or a digital camera

Currently we have a 4mp digital camera (sony DSCP-9) which takes mini movies.

We have a holiday of a lifetime coming up to Disney Florida with our 2 DCs and would like some more room for movies.

Question is, should we buy a camcorder that also takes still photos or should we get a new digital camera which has loads more memory and take movies on it.

Any recommendations for either would be very helpful!
Budget is only £100-£350 max

I use a sony handycam camcorder (DCR-SR35)with a hard disc drive in it. I bought it from amazon on the strength of the good reviews - it would fit in with your budget. I am not very good with gadgets but I find it is very easy to use when filming and to transfer the footage to my computer. The film itself is good quality. I think the still shots are only about 1 megapixel, in fact I would say that is the one negative thing about it, so unless there are now better gadgets on the market, you may need a digital camera as well.

I would buy a camcorder

You won't get good still shots from a camcorder IMO. If you're going for a camcorder, take the still shots on your 4mp digital camera as they will be far better.

When my son was born my mother bought a Sony camcorder with hard disc. Anyway, my mother took the family photos of us all in hospital and they came out really badly I think she had the wrong setting on the camcorder, so her fault. Anyway, I was gutted, she had taken the pnly photos we had with DP me and baby in. TBH though I do personally feel a camcorder is for one thing and a camera for another! Last year we went to California, Disney and we bought a camera out there, was much cheaper. Oh and I would get both if your budget allows!!
