Parasols

I have a secondhand M&P Pliko Pramette and need a parasol for it now that it's getting sunny.

Does anyone know whether the generic Mothercare parasols fit on to any pram, or do you have to spend a fortune getting the 'brand' one??

Firstly most parasols are pretty rubbish anyway! Would recommend you just get a normal one. It should fit ok. Check out boots website. They have some reductions!

Parasols are a pita! Get a sunshade instead -I've got a protect a bub and its miles better than my parasol as you don't have to keep adjusting it everytime the sun direction changes!

Ooh glad you said that FarTooShy, I came to the same conclusion about parasols and have just ordered a shadeababe instead. with that and the babybanz and sunhat on their way, I predict it will now rain for a month

I had a mothercare parasol on my M&P pramette. It did fit the frame but agree that a complete pita. It used to flop to the side and drive me mad. I ended up safety pinning to the hood which made it even harder work to move but was the only way I could keep it in place.

Yep, I agree. You're forever trying to adjust the parasol if you change direction. I often ended up having mine practically at right angles to the pram which meant I took up the entire pavement! Got a shade-a-babe in the end and it's much better. They're not cheap but you could try secondhand. I think someone was selling one on the pushchair thread not so long ago.

If you do go for a shade a baby check this out as its cheaper than most

www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=13199&callingViewName =&langId=-1&catalogId=11051

plus you can have it deliver to a store which would save postage.

Agree parasols are pretty hard work and very annoying.

I have just brought

this

from ebay for £12 brand new on a buy it now.

My friend has one and tried it today. Bloody excellent for my faair skinned Son and when he napped I could pull it right down and block all the sun out.....bring on the summer!

That looks brilliant! Will have a look for something similar - we have an NCT sale near us next weekend.

The only reservation I have about the sunshade over the parasol is that it looks like the child is being hidden away!! Can they see through them OK? Will strangers think I have a freak baby?!
