if so please can you tell me how much of a pain they are to drive and park. DH needs a wheelchair and with 3 kids as well we need significantly more storage room in the car.

we are contemplating the transporter/caravelle or the viano but I am really worried that a)it will feel like a van b)it will be a total nightmare to park

the other option would be to get something like a grand espace

any feedback or comments very very gratefully received!!

I saw this thread last night so consulted my db over mother's day lunch! He has got a VW transporter. It is actually his 4th and my dad has also had 2 so as you can guess they really rate then highly.

He currently has the long wheel base one and says that this does feel a little more van like and would take some getting used to when it comes to parking. He says to expect a few clipped kerbs if not used to vans!

However, he says the short wheel base (he has owned this in the past) in his opinion is no different to driving a car.

He said the driving position is very high and takes getting used to but he now prefers it.

He said he highly recommends it as I quote 'it's class'! I hope this helps!

We have a campervan'd Caravelle with a high top and I find it very easy to drive (would be better with power steering - but it's 25 years old so what can I expect?).

It fits in an ordinary sized parking space, the high up driving position is brilliant, it's no wider than lots of cars, well made.........get one

thanks that's good to hear that they are not too bad to park - would dearly love the caravelle rather than the viano but think we'd need a nice lottery win to afford it
