Ikea "Spoka" - comes in red, green or blue, very gentle light - mains rechargeable. We have the blue one for DD2, just known as "blue light".

blue light - or red or green!

Yes, yes, our Ikea "ghosties" are much loved! We have one in each colour, one for each child. They are cute and soft, and they even go to the loo with DS1 in the middle of the night - he dares to go on his own with his ghostie, yeah!!

How about this?

My ds2 has one and it is fab. You can take the lamp off, and it becomes a torch. Rechargeable, so no batteries required and you can use the base without it being plugged in, so no wires near the bed. You can also get them in Dora, HSM and Hannah Montanah if your DD doesnt like Disney princess.

Our ghostie 'died' (again..?! )

Dd has one of these Bodyclock www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=20157&callingV iewName=&langId=-1&catalogId=11051 (wasn't quite that expensive ). It was actually a Christmas pressie for dh (the kids one was cheaper but exactly the same as the adults) but didn't realise we wouldn't get any opportunity to 'wake with light, just like a sunrise' when we had kids to wake us pre-dawn anyway

Anyway, dd likes that she can dim it up and down. It's nice for bedtime too.
